When I saw that our sister station in Bloomington, WJBC, shared this story on Facebook, my immediate reaction was to check the date. Nope, it’s not quite April 1st, so it’s not a prank. This actually happened.
Having been a Bloomington resident until about two weeks ago, I know that Bloomington Meats is the premiere place in town to get super fresh cut things for cooking and grilling; So much so, that they have their own cows for slaughter. Today, one cow must have sensed her doom and made a run for it. She dodged traffic on Main Street (also known as Business 51) before being tracked down around Tracy Dr. by the police and being euthanized. It was then returned to Bloomington Meats to become someone’s juicy steak for tonight.
Here’s a map so you can accurately see that this cow ran almost a mile and a half through town before being tracked down. Seriously. This story needs to be told. Movies should be made about this cow: The Brave Steak. Not-Homeward Bound. Bessie: Cow in the City.
